German-based insurer Allianz has announced a link-up with the AA by offering breakdown and recovery services from the kerbside repair specialist at preferential rates.

The deal applies to motor fleet customers of Allianz and follows hard on the heels of a similar tie-up with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.

Jon Dye, from Allianz, told the Post magazine that as a responsible insurer, it had to provide "the very best solutions" for its customers.

He also said that Allianz wanted to offer the service at reduced rates to its motor fleet as unforeseen breakdowns were costly as well as potentially damaging to a company's reputation.

Head of major fleets and leasing at the AA, Roger Williams, also talking to the Post, added: "As the UK's number one breakdown organisation we are confident our roadside capabilities and high levels of service will be of real value to Allianz customers".

The AA is one of the country' leading breakdown and recovery organisations and is best known for its roadside vehicle repairs, although it is also now a provider of financial services such as loans and insurance.
