Car Insurance News - Published: 31/03/2008

According to uSwitch.com, a price comparison website, aspiring motorists can expect to spend £1,337 each learning to drive.
After the price rise, the Driving Standards Authority (DSA) will make £128 million from driving tests every year.
"New drivers shouldn't be under any illusions - learning to drive carries a hefty price tag," said Ashton Berkhauer, insurance expert at uSwitch.com.
"Men can now expect to pay over £1,069 to learn to drive, while women can expect to foot a bill of £1,605 as they take on average 20 lessons more than men.
"With the average person sitting their practical test two to three times before passing, learners must also have a contingency fund to cover the cost of initial failure," he added.
After April 1st the cost of the theory test will rise from £28.50 to £30 and the practical test will rise from £48.50 to £56.50.
